Hon. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan paid a courtesy call on Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Speaker of the People’s Majlis.
During the meeting, Speaker Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdulla discussed the long-standing friendship between the Maldives and Pakistan and emphasized avenues for enhancing future collaboration between the two countries. In addition, Speaker Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdulla expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s continued assistance to the Maldives, particularly in the fields of education and health.
Furthermore, Speaker Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdulla expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s continued assistance in the development of the People’s Majlis, highlighting the Maldives Parliament building as a symbol of strong ties between the two countries.
Following the conclusion of the meeting, the People’s Majlis and National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan signed an MoU on Cooperation between the two Parliaments. Hon. Speaker stated that, under this MoU, a structured training and capacity-building programmes for both Members of Parliament and the Secretariat staff will be initiated and that this cooperation will enable People’s Majlis to benefit from Pakistan’s valuable experience, strengthen the parliamentary practices, and further deepen the enduring partnership between the two nations.
